Fecha de la noticias: 06/08/2019 • Publicada: 06/08/2019

In its weekly report for 30 July - 5 August, ReCAAP ISC informed of a total of three armed robberies against ships, comprising two actual incidents in Asia and one attempted outside Asia.

The two incidents reported in Asian waters were CAT 4 incidents, which is classified as ‘least significant’ in nature.

One incident involved the tug boat "Crest Onyx" while anchored at PT Darma Sentosa Marindo Yard, Batam Island, Indonesia on 23 July.

The second incident involved a general cargo ship "Molengracht" while at Lotus Port, Phu My Bridge, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, on 25 July.

Another attempted incident occurred onboard the Singapore-registered chemical tanker "Torm Thor" on 26 July, while at anchor at Lagos Anchorage, 4.5 nm southwest of Fairway Buoy, in West African waters.

The ReCAAP ISC urges ship master and crew to report all incidents of piracy and armed robbery against ships to the nearest coastal State and flag State, exercise vigilance and adopt relevant preventive measures taking reference from the Regional Guide to Counter Piracy and Armed Robbery Against Ships in Asia.
